November 5th Meeting Report: 28 members gathered at South Bend City Hall to meet with TRL Director Cheryl Heywood. Pres. Ravenel, opened with the good news that the estimated cost of abatement had arrived at about $17,000. With the donations received the Friends can cover the cost, so after a quick meeting, the deposit and signed proposal was sent to KD&S Environmental in Montesano.
    
Cheryl, in response to queries, said that the decision to reopen the library would be a mutual agreement between the city and TRL. Dennis Houk, the city engineer, said the city was committed to the reopening. The Seattle Public Library Foundation is planning a state-wide Library Giving Day on April 10, 2019. All libraries are encouraged to participate. Gail Friedlander, president of the Friends of Raymond Library, invited everyone to attend their monthly meetings, held the first Tuesday of each month, 5 pm, at the Raymond library. The state is conducting an inventory of public libraries in 21 distressed counties including Pacific County, which might lead to funding for maintenance of aging facilities. The meeting closed on a high note.  Betsy Penoyar, Treasurer reported that the Shoalwater Tribe has donated $1,000 to the library repairs. Thank you! Pop-Up Services : 
South Bend Librarians provided pop-up library services at South Bend City Hall (11/9 & 11/20) and the Pacific County Historical Society & Museum (11/14) where folks could place and pick up holds, browse books, use wifi or just come say “hi”. January and December pop-ups will be held Tuesdays and Fridays at the Pacific County Historical Society & Museum. Folks can call Raymond library if they want to pick up their holds at South Bend  360-942-2408

Monthly Book Sale :
The first Saturday & Sunday of the month, 10am3pm, at the back of the Penoyar Law Office, 504 Robert Bush Dr. South Bend WA.

Building Update :
On Dec. 13th the scheduled abatement was canceled due to an unexpected conflict for KD&S Environmental. As of this morning, the abatement has begun. We expect about 7 days to complete if all goes accordingly. The Friends will get periodic updates and hope to provide more information about reopening at our meeting; Jan 14 @3pm, South Bend Lutheran Church.There is still much to be done after abatement and reentry. Our old building is in need of many costly structural repairs. As we continue to outline the next steps, we welcome donations and/or members who are willing to spearhead fundraisers Thank you for your continued support, attention and various contributions.
